All About Dvorak

Antonin Dvorak was alive during the late 1800's. He composed symphonies and operas. His music was considered romantic, and had many changes in tempo and dynamics throughout each piece. Dvorak's first few pieces resemble the work of Mozart and Beethoven. However, as he got older his compositions became less influenced by older composers. Dvorak was born on September 8, 1841 and died on May 1, 1904. Dvorak was the oldest of nine children. At first he trained to be a butcher, like his father, but when it didn't suit him, Dvorak's father allowed him to quit to play the viola. Dvorak trained with the Prague Organ School and joined their band. Later he started giving private music lessons, and ended up marrying Anna Cermakova, one of his students. Dvorak was born and died in Prague, but he spent a brief period of time in New York, where he composed his ninth symphony, "From The New World".
